Job Purpose

This is a contract position to teach in the field of Afrikaans Home Language and Education to Intermediate Phase students on the Wellington Campus

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

A relevant Master’s degree in Afrikaans (Language and Literature) and/or Education (History of Education)
Afrikaans as a major subject at the undergraduate level
A relevant teaching qualification
At least two (2) years of relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or two (2) years relevant experience in IP phase at school level.
Specialised knowledge of methodologies of teaching Afrikaans

RECOMMENDATIONS

A relevant Doctoral degree in Afrikaans and Education
Experience in research and postgraduate supervision

Teaching of Afrikaans HL in the IP department
Curriculum development and other learning materials
Supervising students on teaching practice
Excellent interpersonal skills
Academic administration, development, and administration
Assessment and quality assurance
Adequate knowledge of South African CAPS document related to Afrikaans
Networking with schools and other networks
Community engagement
Coaching and mentoring of students and staff
Adequate knowledge of South African CAPS document related to Afrikaans

Perform other functions as may be assigned by the head of department
