Job Purpose

The objective is to fill this contract position of AFRIKAANS in the SP&FET Department with a staff member with expertise in this area

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

MINIMUM RQUIREMENTS: LECTURER

A relevant Master’s degree in Afrikaans or Education related
Afrikaans as a major at undergraduate level
A relevant teaching qualification (preferable at secondary school level)
Two (2) relevant lecturing experience in SP & FET at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience at school level
Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Afrikaans

Teaching Afrikaans in the SP & FET department
Curriculum development and other learning materials
Supervising students on teaching practice
Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision)
Academic administration, development, and administration
Adequate content and pedagogical content knowledge

Good work ethics and ability to manage work
Community engagement
Mentoring and support of students (and staff)
Teamwork and collaboration
Strong learner focus
